Job Title: Sub Program Manager            
Employer: Lutheran World Relief (LWR)
Location: Uganda
Reports to: Team Leader


Duties:
Ensure DIPs (Detailed Implementation Plans) are followed and closely monitored to implement activities within the agreed timeframes and with available resources and immediately report any problems or deviations from plans.
Ensure a result based monitoring and evaluation system is developed, by developing a learning system that not only generates quantitative data but allows for ongoing collection of participants views on the programs relevance and success.
The incumbent will promote and coordinate effective communication with donors, the prime organization and government partners as well as with other stakeholders (NGOs and CBOs).
The jobholder will train the fulltime Initiative Manager

Education:
The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Sub Program Manager career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following fields (sociology, anthropology, economic development, business administration, agricultural economics or related fields from a recognized university.

Experience
A minimum of five years of proven experience in emergency project management in rural or refugee settings
A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior management position in an international organization involved in development and/or humanitarian work;
At least three years of senior management experience at project ievel, preferably in an international development organization including one- year experience in supervising project staff.
Excellent community facilitation skills and familiarity with participatory rural appraisal tools and approaches and qualitative research j tools
Previous exposure and experience in operational research preferred.
Experience of working with refugees or internally displaced persons is an advantage.
Prior exposure and experience in managing partnerships and coordinating complex and sensitive projects;
Previous experience of working in relation to UN agencies like UNHCR, or UNICEF is an advantage;
Demonstrated experience in project management including general knowledge and understanding of international donors’ policies and procedures, monitoring and evaluation of projects in accordance to the set and agreed upon standards.;
Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations; cultural sensitivity and adaptability;
High degree of integrity and professional responsibility with a commitment to results;
Excellent communication skills
