Job Title:             Shoot Edit
Employer: British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Duties:
Providing creative ideas on how to film and illustrate news stories and features.
Tasked with filming and sending video to base on breaking news stories
Shooting and editing complete news and feature packages
Recording presenter links and pieces to camera in creative ways and to edit full programmes.
Working in liaison with reporters to develop scripts and occasionally writing material. Field-producing news coverage, when needed.
Working abroad and in hostile environments.

Experience:
The ideal candidate for the BBC Shoot Edit job placement should have prior experience in a News broadcasting environment, practicing a range of location craft skills (e.g. camerawork / lighting / editing / location facilities).
The incumbent should have broad interest in and proven commitment to News.
Proven knowledge of issues and stories relevant to African audiences
Previous experience of filming, editing and packaging content for TV and radio
Possess a full range of location craft and technical skills
Demonstrated ability to operate current broadcast technical equipment on location and at base, demonstrating a well-developed sense of visual awareness and a willingness to learn how to use new technology and kit.
Previous exposure and experience of operating in a specialist area. Business, social or foreign affairs, the arts or science are desirable.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, react positively to situations at short notice and plan ahead.
Excellent digital skills with track record of researching and discovering stories and after appropriate training use PNG, Quickfire and other newsgathering systems.

Job Title:    Online Editor
Employer: NTV Uganda
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Duties:
Tasked with checking and correcting selected editorial copy, headlines and captions for facts, accuracy, taste, house-style, language use, clarity, balance to conform to Editorial policy.
Coordinate NTV’s journalism on social media. This may include a combination of content drawn from newspapers, websites or audience and require a promotion of stories that pose debate
Keenly track comments about NTVU’s journalism on blogs, websites, and social media, for trends, ideas and issues of importance, and to translate these into stories and draw insights to guide Producers
Drive social media engagement including responding to public comments if necessary, in consultation the relevant departmental heads and editorial team
Work in liaison with the Webmaster to compress and upload content (video and audio) to the respective active channels.
Monitor trends in social media tools and applications, and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase the use of social media at NTV Uganda.

Education
The ideal candidate for the Online Editor job placement must hold a basic University degree

Experience
At least three years of online editing experience in a real time news environment.
Extremely fast, accurate, resourceful and composed to cope with a relentless copy flow
Extensive general knowledge for spotting factual errors as well as good critical thinking skills in order to recognize inconsistencies or vagaries
Familiarity with a range of online environments, such as blogs and social networks

Job Title:     Product Editor - Full Woman
Employer: Monitor Publications Limited (MPL)
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Duties:
In charge of the content of the Full Woman magazine in line with MPL’s editorial line
Supports preparation and realization of long-term and short-term plans regarding the magazine based on continuing consultations with the Features Editor - Weekend
Conceptualizes story ideas, develops and discusses them with writers
Selects stories that are interesting, relevant and informative to the target group
The incumbent also assigns writers to carry out research, interviews and compile stories
Ensures the stories are edited to meet journalistic ethics, editorial objectives and house-style
Supervises the design and layout work for the magazine to ensure that it is attractive and appealing to readers
Closely co-operates with editorial graphic designers regarding magazines design and format
Ensures the pages are delivered to the press within set deadlines
Reviews product performance through market research done and develops new content to satisfy readers demands
Seeks external sources of information/contributors; orders and receives external contributions

Education:

Experience

Duties:
Prepares desk diary for multimedia graphics assignments.
The jobholder also receives briefing from Managing Editor – Content generation
Checks working tools i.e. camera batteries and notebooks
Goes on assignments with other reporters and takes newsworthy and creative photographs and videos.
Processes/reviews photos and videos for publication in print and uploading online
Writes captions for the selected pictures within set deadlines, is responsible for the accuracy and content of captions.
The incumbent edits videos into format that can be used on our online platforms
Provides advance photographs/videos at editors’ requests

Education
The applicants for the MPL Multimedia Editor career placement should hold a University Degree in Industrial Fine Art or related field from an accredited institution

Experience
A minimum of three to five years of related experience in the media industry
Extensive knowledge of the programs for photography and demonstrable experience of practicing them within the bounds of corporate identity
A creative thinker with good problem-solving skills
Ability to multitask

Duties:
