Job Title: Lab Attendant (aquaculture) (1)
Employer: Mountains of the Moon University
Location: Fortportal
Reports to: Head of Department.
Education: diploma in aquaculture, fisheries or related field and two years experience.
Duties;
In collaboration with researchers; Support and conduct research in aquaculture and Artemia production.
Carry-out laboratory preparation, testing and analysis of water samples, observing quality control procedure and good laboratory practice :
Organizing and processing of laboratory data in’ spreadsheets prior to detailed analysis
Directing fellow technical staff/Students in aquaculture and Artemia production
Participate in research studies on better management aspects of fish production.
Regular servicing and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including trouble shooting.
Manage the day to day activities of the lab.
Conduct/develop/improve new and existing fish production.
Perform laboratory and proficiency testing for water analysis
Troubleshoot and monitor for irregularities equipment and facilities.
Supervise and train students working in the aquaculture Laboratory.
Expand knowledge and professionalism in aquaculture, through continuing education, such as workshops, enrolling in relevant coursework, and by participating in professional fish management.
Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed for aquaculture laboratory.
Update lab Manual, including standard operating procedures and work job instructions, and assure quick response to Corrective and Preventative Action Requests.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
