Job Title:      Best Interest Assessments & Determinations (BID/BIA) Assistant
Employer: Action Africa Help International (AAH)
Location: Uganda

Duties:
The incumbent will identify children at heightened risk and effect appropriate intervention including alternative care arrangements, birth registration etc.;
Follow-up and monitor individual case status and progressively ensure compliance with the comprehensive child protection strategy;
Coordinate and carry out all best interest assessments and determinations (BIA and
BID) process in line with best child protection practice and defined donor and AAH guidelines;
The incumbent will ensure the implementation of decisions relating to refugee children made by the BID and
Psychosocial panels;
Maintain up-to-date individual case files, date and information relating to refugee child protection and progressively generate appropriate periodic reports on trends and activities in line with donor and AAH reporting guidelines;
Provide support to community child protection caseworkers in the tracking of individual cases, updating status, and updating child protection database;
work closely with and support partners in refugee child protection through activities such as capacity building, and inform and participate in relevant network and coordination forums;
Performs other duties as required by your supervisor.


Education:
The ideal candidate for the Best Interest Assessments & Determinations (BID/BIA) Assistant job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Counselling and Guidance or any other relevant field.
Possession of a Certificate in Child protection will be of added advantage.

Experience
At least two years’ work experience, including at least 1 year conducting assessments on children, preferably with an NGO. Experience working in the field of refugee protection and assistance an added advantage
Broad knowledge of human rights doctrine, child rights and/or extensive field experience in working with refugees.
