Job Title:        Social Worker
Employer: Handicap International
Location: Arua, Uganda
Reports to: Protection Supervisor

Duties:
Actively participate to the actor and service mapping in HI area of intervention;
Significantly contribute to the analysis of the mental health and psychosocial issues / needs, sources of distress, coping mechanisms, community-based dynamics and mechanisms, leaderships, representation of the beneficiaries and communities targeted by HI intervention;
Actively participate to the identification of barriers to equal access to services;
Take part in the development of a referral system;
Identify and assess of Person with Specific Needs;
The incumbent will refer internally and externally Person with Specific Needs (PSN);
Recognize emergency situation or situations that need immediate medical care or protection measure and react in consequence making efforts to ensure that beneficiary get the appropriate services;
The Social worker will also participate to the development of tailored and inclusive IEC material for the dissemination of information on services;
Actively facilitate awareness raising sessions and information dissemination sessions and documented each of them;

Education:
The ideal candidate for the Handicap International  Social Worker job opportunity must hold a human science (Social Works) degree with experience;

Experience
Professional experience in the protection of vulnerable persons and/or refugees within NGO;
Previous exposure and experience in social cohesion and/or community mobilization and/or conflict management;
Previous experience in case management;
Prior experience in adult trainings is desired
Prior exposure and experience in MHPSS humanitarian intervention;
Previous exposure and experience in GBV and/or child protection;
Experience in community-based protection;
Strong sense of neutrality and confidentiality;
