Job Title:     Customs Officers (20 Job Opportunities)
Employer: Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Duties:
Conduct verification of consignments and write a descriptive Verification Account to guide the assessment of customs taxes payable:
Check and verify the quantity, quality, weight, country of origin and other applicable details about the goods imported
Write detailed descriptive verification account indicating the findings from the verification process to guide valuation and tax assessment
Upload the Verification account onto the system to enable access by the Valuation/Assessment Officer
Secure and submit samples to the Valuation/Assessment Officer.
Assess taxes payable and advise the clients on the payment process to enable collection:
Vet documents provided by the clients/taxpayers against physical goods to ascertain truthfulness in the declarations made to determine tax payable
Ascertain tax payable following appropriate Tax Assessment Methodology
Generate a Payment Registration Notice (PRN) or an amendment reflecting additional tax to be paid based on findings from the physical verification

Education:
The applicants for the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Customs Officer jobs should possess Bachelor’s degrees in International Trade or any other field, obtained from a recognized academic institution
Specialised training in any of the areas of customer care, data analysis, or fraud examination is desired

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in carrying out field operations
he ideal person should have knowledge of the Customs Management Act 2004, Customs Guidelines and Procedures as well as the Tariff Classifications and Customs Valuation
Extensive knowledge of some Domestic Tax Laws such as Value Added Tax, With Holding and Income Tax
