Job Title:  Research Assistant
Employer: Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF)
Location: Mbarara, Uganda

Duties:
Travel to field sites to collect and record data as appropriate to the specific objectives of the study.
Work in liaison with health care workers at the sites to identify potential study participants, assess eligibility and recruit them.
Carry out informed consent processes with potential participants according to the study procedures.
Carries our research interviews and enters study data into the electronic data capture system.
Develop interview schedules; identify potential subjects, arrange and conduct interviews in accordance with predetermined interview protocol, data collection procedures, and documentation standards. As appropriate to the specified position, code and verify data in accordance with the IPAC standard operating procedures, and enter data into the data collection paper tools.
The Research Assistant will also ensure that data collected are accurate, complete, properly handled and stored in accordance with study SOPs and confidentiality stipulations.
Obtains study informed consent and enrolls study participants.
Complies with protocols, ethics and regulations and adheres to good research practices.

Education:
The applicant for the EGPAF Research Assistant career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Population Studies Demography, Epidemiology and other related disciplines, including Social Sciences and Public Health.

Experience
Prior experience in conducting research i.e. data collection and recording and conducting interviews
Broad knowledge of MOH facility data collection registers and HMIS tools.
Knowledge of and prior training in protection of human subjects in research and ethics regulations to ensure compliance with all focal and international requirements.
Ability to understand and apply specified field and/or laboratory research procedures and protocols.
Excellent in speaking, reading and writing the following languages: English and Runyakitara. Able to work in south west Uganda
